Is anyone still watching this show besides me? If so, have any of you enjoyed this season so far? The 1st episode was really good. Then it all went to shit. Just every episode is just boring or makes no sense at all.
I just looked and tonight's episode is 90 minutes long. I wasn't happy about it, I was like oh no. 90 minutes of being bored. If Game of Thrones was 90 minutes I'd be very excited about it.
I keep hoping Walking dead will get good again. But so far the outcome doesn't look good.

I keep hoping Walking dead will get good again. But so far the outcome doesn't look good. I stopped with like 2-3 episodes left, last season. I still will look at recaps and reviews hoping to be swayed in to coming back, but so far, not even close The thing they do with entire episodes on certain people or groups is just a horrendous formula. If they were more GoT style and jumped between 4-5 different storylines during each episode it would be so much more engaging ad interesting to watch. But their biggest problem is what happens in these storylines is so depressing, repetitive and boring that maybe it wouldn't be. The only way the writers on this show seem to be able to create drama is to kill people you don't want to see die. Like that's it. Sure every once in a while you get a finale that has some big moments, but the other 15 episodes it's just a melancholy schlog

Last year was better then this year. If you can believe that. I just can't care for the characters anymore. Now they are trying to introduce 2 new groups.
Maybe a spoiler if your not caught up...
But some of the writing just sucks. You have Karl holding a gun up to the person they want to kill. of course he doesn't pull the trigger. Then as soon as that group leaves. He decides he's going to follow them and kill him once and for all. Motherfucker, you just had a gun to him and did nothing.
I've been watching this show for like 5 years now. I don't want to just give up on it. But man, they are making it hard not to.

Even though I haven't watched, I think I still know enough about Negan and his group to say that if I was in Rick's group, I would just shoot Negan right in front of his people, then immediately throw the gun down, put my hands up and yell, "okay, okay, he's gone. None of us liked him. What do you guys want to do?" And take my chances that way. Living under that guys thumb has too high a mortality rate to make it worth giving up and giving in

I still watch it. I enjoyed Rick's hubris coming back and smashing Abe and Glen's heads into piles of mush. Some episodes are throw aways, like the one from last week with Tara. I don't care about Tara's story. But I did enjoy this week's episode. Knowing Neegan's back story like I do, this episode with him and Carl was entertaining for a few reasons and brought some depth to the Neegan character. It also showed cracks forming in Neegan's group.
Personally, I've seen about ten different times that someone could have/should have killed Neegan. It baffles me that he's survived this long in the comics.
And his thing with the wives should mean there are seven guys in his group who want to put a knife through his skull. Including that Dwight dude with the burned up face, which he apparently got because he fucked his wife after Neegan decided she was his wife.
I suspect Dwight and his wife are going to hatch something, unless they follow the comic and Rick and The Kingdom/Hilltop band together first.

Yeah, This weeks was a bit better then I was expecting. I have never read the comics so I have no idea what to expect. I can just hope that the 2nd half of the season is better.

I stopped watching this last episode. Its the same shit since episode 1. Negan being Negan and making everyone miserable. They completely cut out all hope, even for the viewers.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan is a good, popular actor which means they will keep him around for at least another season. Two seasons of this shit? Nah. I finally quit.

I'm bummed that Negan is still around next season.
What I would tell you Premier is that he's heading for a fall very soon if the follow the comics.
I think they screwed the pooch here though. Negan's character is actually pretty boring, and I think they've dragged out the "forcing viewers to abandon all hope" for too long.
I hope they depart from the comic storyline and actually kill Negan.

Negan stays around for like a year or so in the comic doesn't he? I haven't kept up with it but my buddy said that.
We are 4 episodes behind and I don't really care about catching up... meh

We are 4 episodes behind and I don't really care about catching up... meh He's still alive and around in the comic. But things take a turn for the worse for him in the comic. Based on what's going on in the show, I think that turn might come sooner than later. Their ratings are tanking and pretty much everyone is saying it is because of the Negan storyline. I think they are going to keep on trying to humanize Negan, and are probably going to give us his backstory (which is very, very similar to Rick's) which will make him a more sympathetic character. And right after they do that, they'll kill him.

Glad to know I'm not the only one frustrated with this season. This show follows a formula every damn year and every year I hope they'll break the pattern but they never do.
Negan's clever dialogue/scary bad guy schtick is getting old real quick, he's like a cartoon at this point.
I've gone to far to give up watching this now but my excitement level for each episode is going down by the week.

I have no problem admitting I am a complete fanboy of this show and other than the waste of time Tara episode, I am loving this season and I think Negan is awesome. I am a big fan of Jeffrey Dean Morgan from Supernatural and The Watchmen. I'm looking forward to the Hilltop, the Kingdom and Alexandria teaming up against the Saviors.

Figured out why I am not too big on Negan being a villian. Dude is too big of an evil fuck for people to be loyal to. I am watching the first visit of Negan's to Alexandria. The way he has treated his underlings and Rick's group, nobody would object to Rick blowing his brains out, not even his most loyal followers. Burnt face dude would high-five Rick for getting rid of that asshole. He is too evil for a little cult to follow in a post-apocalyptic world. This isn't like Hitler or Stalin, these are people that know him personally and intimately (no homo). See no redeeming qualities in him and know he is a monster and has treated them like a monster before.

This Even though I stopped watching like 10-11 episodes back, I still get this impression from everything I read about these episodes, that if someone just killed Negan, most of his people would be more than cool with it Maybe the one scary looking guy who played Trevor in GTA 5 and was also on Westworld would be a problem, but then fine, shoot him in the face too

The flaw with the "he's too evil" thing is in Negan's back story. Don't get me wrong, you're right about how he's being portrayed and it seeming impossible that he'd have all these people following him so religiously. But like you said Floyd, the closest to him know him intimately.
Think about some of the crazy shit Rick has done in front of his people. If he weren't being portrayed as our protagonist, it would be pretty easy to see him as a psycho. But we give him a lot of slack because he's "our hero", and so does (almost) everyone in his group.
I think it's important to remember that Negan calls his people "The Saviors" too. Because Negan's back story entails him saving people from the zombies from the moment he leaves the hospital that his wife just died in. So basically, he saves these people and does so in savage fashion, they see him as a beast who's on their side- he tells them that they can be saviors too if they just "do what must be done", and wham- he's brainwashed a lot of people.
What they really fucked up here is how they are telling the story. Because it leaves this glaring hole that you've pointed out Floyd, and it looks like the plot has a hole in it the size of the one in Carl's face. What they should have done as far as I'm concerned, was drop Negan's backstory in Ep 2. That would have made it more clear to the audience why he's got such a huge group behind him and why they would go berserk if someone put a bullet in him.
I thought the mid-season finale did a decent job of sending the message that the days of Pussy Rick and Mute Daryl are over and that we're going to start to see the merging of Alexandria/Hilltop/Kingdom in the second half of the season. Negan's problem was that he was always trying to make himself King Of The World, and it works a lot better in the comics than it does on the show.

I have 9 episodes of the show in my DVR that I haven't watched. Including the mid season finale.
I used to complain about the people hating on the show in the old weekly thread. But eventually I lost interest too. The show turned into a infinite loop of Negan being a bad ass and Ricks group just suffering. Didn't buy the Rick is a pussy sudden change.
Watching the mid season finale right now. At least a fast forward version. Just watched 30 minutes in 5 minutes forwarding.
Will probably watch the rest the same fast forward way, just to catch up. Shame to quit now after investing all this time on the past seasons.

Not gonna lie. The end of the mid season finale gave me some hope. Cool to see Rick and Daryl embrace like that. Also cool to see the whole group walking off with determination on the last scene.
Not getting my hopes up. But lets see what happens. Probably will watch 3 or 4 episodes out if the remaining 8 before the UFC fights tonight

I'm not sure if I'll even bother to turn it on next season. This whole season sucked. I don't care about most of the cast, kind of wish most would just get killed off.
Virginia isn't working out for them. Fine, you have cars. Leave like you did Atlanta. Seems simple.
They can run full speed in the dark and shoot zombies in the head with no problem. Yet they can't shoot a person/s they want 5 feet away.

Still watching this. I enjoyed the finale. Liked how they stayed on script from the comics, in some cases word for word (one instance made Negan really look like a cartoon character.) And the tiger made me laugh a lot. Next season should be better than this one, because the pussification of the folks at Alexandria is all done (assuming they stick to the comic arc.) Next season there will be an epic throw down, and I look forward to it.

I actually stopped watching it three episodes in. I just couldn't buy Rick being such a pussy ass bitch and refused to see him in that light. We had every episode of this season on DVR but I deleted it last week because my wife doesn't care about it anymore either. I may On Demand the finale to see if Rick has redeemed himself but the whole Negan arc was just "meh" to me and I really like the actor that plays him even though I can't remember his name right now.
I think it is time for them to go on the move or something.

You would like when Rick gets his gun back. Symbolic of that part of the story being over. Rick is the furthest thing from a pussy now. Without giving you the result, when Negan was standing over Carl with Lucille telling Rick he was going to kill Carl, Rick just told Negan, "There is nothing you can do to stop me from killing you."

Tony, what worries me about next season is that the fight with Negan is on. One of the last scenes, Negan had his people armed and ready to go. That is most likely a battle left for late in the season or the season finale. Which could mean we are going to get a lot of filler episodes until that battle. Like those flashback episodes that most people hated.
