Brendan Schaub made some good points yesterday. He was talking about the size difference between Conor and Eddie and how Conor will have a 5 inch reach advantage. Conor should be a little faster. If Conor can land the same lefts that put Nate's 170lb ass on the floor, those same lefts will probably mean lights out for a 155 Alverez.

^^^ True, Conor can knock out Eddie. But I also think Eddie can knock out Conor. Conor will also have to worry about Eddie going for takedowns. Something he really didn't need to worry about with Nate.
I'm a fan of both (more so of Conor), I just have a feeling Eddie is going to win.

McGregor wins if Alvarez tries to stand and bang with him. McGregor will pick him apart on the feet imo. The best chance Eddie has is to use his wrestling, change levels and use dirty boxing.

Eddie will prevail because he's 3 times his size.

That reach is gonna kill Eddie. But he a tough dude though. He won't mind catching a couple going in............as long at it doesn;t put him in his ass of course.

If Conor doesn't KO him in the first 1.5 rounds, I think Eddie will win by RNC late in 3 or 4. I don't have my official pick yet but will be choosing one of those two outcomes.

OC, you think Eddie is a better or worse matchup for Conor than Nate? Tough call. I think Nate is the tougher opponent because he's harder to stop but Eddie's takedown threat is far more dangerous than Nate. Eddie is definitely tough and I don't think ever stopped by strikes, but when he stood in the pocket with Chandler he got tagged and hurt multiple times. That's telling to me because Conor hits harder than Chandler and Eddie's chin won't survive if he starts playing chin check with Conor. Cowboy beat Eddie pretty easily using leg kicks but we know Conor won't. Conor has looked fantastic against very well rounded strikers like Poirier and Holloway, but neither presents the takedown threat Eddie does. Man, I have a feeling this is going to look like what Eddie did to Pettis but he'll get the RNC when Conor gets tired. I think he survives Conor's power shots enough to get him to the mat and when there, he will really tire Conor out. I'm calling Eddie by RNC. Will be pulling for Conor but I think he has run into a wrestler that will get him down. Hope I'm wrong!

Will be pulling for Conor but I think he has run into a wrestler that will get him down. Hope I'm wrong! Seems like people that are picking Eddie (or Nate at the time) banking on Conor gassing. Understandably. He gassed both times with Nate but at least caught a second wind in the 2nd fight. Why did he gas? Was it a cardio issue? Was it mental? Both? Why didn't he gas with Holloway? Was it the weight with Nate? Was it the clinch work? Would his cardio potentially be the best for him at LW?
I do agree with you that he will try to implement a "Pettis" style game plan but I think his plan is to try and tire him out and then KO him rather than submit him. I just feel that Conor is a much better wrestler than Pettis and has much stronger hips. I can't see Eddie controlling Conor the same way. Unlike Pettis, I feel Conor will make him pay every time he gets a chance. We have seen Eddie get rocked before and besides Holloway, Conor has rocked and/or finished every single guy he's faced in the UFC. They all crumbled at the hands of Conor. Even Nate, who never shoots for takedowns, started shooting on Conor. Part of me feels that Eddie is kind of tailor made for Conor compared to the other top LWs. Even though he beat RDA, I think RDA is the tougher matchup just because of his kicks and BJJ.
So while not totally confident, I feel this is Conor's fight to lose and the best matchup for him in the LW division.
...and just to add, I think the reach will be a key thing for Conor. 5 inches is no joke.

I'm going to have to rewatch some of Eddie's fights. You all know I don't have the best MMA memory, But I always thought Eddie was tough as nails. If he can take Conor down early, its going to be a long day for Conor.
No matter who wins, It should be a great fight.

If he can take Conor down early, its going to be a long day for Conor. No matter who wins, It should be a great fight. I was thinking the same thing. Let me go back and watch some of Eddie's fights. Both OC and Peak made hell of arguments. Got me all confused and shit. For some reason when I read the question of who is a tougher match-up for Conor between Eddie and Diaz, I immediately thought Eddie. But Diaz probably has the better cardio and definitely the better bjj. Something about Eddie that makes me think he is a tough dude. OC mentioned the Chandler fight and definitely Eddie got tagged. Conor will put him down if he connects like Chandler did. Considering both arguments, and the fact that I am a little drunk, toss up fight. I can see both outcomes happening. A early Conor KO or a later Eddie sub if Conor gasses.

I watched a couple fights. Eddie is tough, but he also got hit in every fight. Pettis landed some good kicks, Cowboy with a great knee, RDA landed a good kick. Sure Eddie withstood them but you don't want to take to many.
I think he has to do the same game plan as the Pettis fight. He has to make it a boring fight, until he can make Conor gasses. I guess I should say, IF he gasses.
Eddie isn't as fast as I thought he was, and he throws a lot of wide hooks. Both are bad while fighting Conor. BUT Eddie can also hit hard and if he hurts you, he pounces.
I still don't know who to pick. I really like Conor the fighter, As long as I don't listen to him much LOL and I'd really like to see him be a two belt holder. Eddie should have to chance to win both belts too.

It's always hard for me to pick fights when fighters are jumping weight classes. Not really sure why, but I feel like the different weight divisions provide much different variables that we may not notice. Eddie may seem slow as a LW and Conor extremely fast at FW but will the speed difference be the same when Conor is at a different weight class? Didn't seem as fast and fluid in either Diaz fight as he has at FW. I got Conor by TKO because he is a phenomenal fighter and Diaz is an exception that will make any fighter look less dominant, but I think he comes back in dominant fashion after his two Diaz wars.

I read a article previewing this fight and it said Eddie has never been stopped. OC also mentioned that he thinks the same thing. But what about this Thompson fight? I'm not familiar with that fight, just going off the Sherdog record bellow

Even money. Meaning if you bet 100 on Eddie and he won. You would win 100.
Conor is minus 130 (-130). So you would have to bet 130 to win 100
KAROLINA KOWALKIEWICZ +305 ... If you put 100 on Karolina. You would win $305. JOANNA JEDRZEJCZYK -380 ... If you put 100 on Joanna, you would win $26.

So I guess I should've said, If you think Eddie is going to win. You want to put money on him soon because you are starting to lose the value. Eddie started at +150 I think. So people have been betting on Eddie making the line move to even.

Man, if Conor can't beat Eddie, he shouldn't be competing in the LW division.
I feel Eddie is the best matchup for Conor out of the top 5-7 guys in the LW division.

I ended up making 3 small bets.
