Well, NCAA programs started practice yesterday. Should be another good year. Ok state returns a solid squad including a returning champ at 141 and returning high aa in crutchmer as well as joe smith.
Penn state loses a champ and a high aa, but returns my favorite current wrestler to watch , retherford at 149, as well as young studs nolf at 57 and nickal at 74, who were both runner ups.
Ohio state looks solid as well, especially in the upper weights. Snyder nearly a lock to repeat at hwt.
Should be fun.
Will try to post some key tourney and dual results throughout the season . For those interested in following the sport, fox regional channels, big 10 network, and most importantly flowrestling.com are key sources

i'm looking forward to this weekend as its the start of ncaa wrestling competition. we have the nwca all star challenge, at 184 there will be 2 defending ncaa champs- myles martin who won at 174 for ohio state vs gabe dean from cornell. i'm a former rutgers wrestler, so i'm pumped for the 141 pound match with rutgers's 2 x all american anthony ashnault who took 4th last year going against bryce meredith from wyoming who took 2nd last year.

Looks like ashnaults win was exciting. SV single leg. Meredith seems like a super scramble type guy, but ashnault got a reverse on him. I didn't have it on my cable system. Will dig around flo and see if I can find it.
Also saw that dean MDd the Ohio state kid.
Collica got a win as the only osu guy.
Was hoping to see some of the marquee penn state kids at the classic but they weren't there.

OKST (1) vs Iowa (3) this Sunday. Looking through the line-up this is a fucking CLASH. Probably 7-8 of the matches will be nail biters.

Saw and read the summary of the osu Iowa dual. My brother went to the match live. Last pm i watched (or rather.... endured the announcers' broadcast) the dvr of the 125, 133, 141, and 149. Matches. (Telecasts of ou and osu duals just have overall poor announcers relative to those at the BTN).
125- Gilman is a stud. Great gas tank. Also huuuuge for the weight. Looks like he is two weight classes bigger than picciccini. Super aggressive on offense. Piccinninni is good; and looks like he might be able to win a title late in his career. But gillman should be nearly a lock to win it all this season. He seems to be to rely perhaps too much on that cross leg high single that he likes though.... nearly always attacks his opponent's left leg high. Haven't seen anyone stop it in seeing 5 of his matches this year though. Supposedly a super student and solid driven kid.
133- happy that brock got the win. Clark is tough; not sure how much the shoulder is impacting him. But even though I'm happy for Brock... i gotta admit, i disagree with two TDs that he was awarded at the end of the first and second period. He also gassed at the end of the match and Clark had great efffort. If those two meet at the ncaa, i would favor Clark; if he is healthier.
141- heil is tough. Super tough. But tends to rely on close matches. With his defense; i see that it is a fine strategy for him... but i sure with the team could get some bonus points out of him more than they do. Especially in the ncaa where psu has Nolf, retherford, and nikal all racking up massive bonuses... lack of bonus points from a guy like heil (even with a title) could mean the difference between first and second in the team race.
149- great match between colleca and sorenson. Colleca got revenge from his loss last season at the football stadium. Good shape by him.
More to follow as i finish the telecast this week.

Finished up the Iowa osu dual
57- Iowa kid is tough. RsFresh. Mike kemerer. Ohio kid. Highly recruited. Evidently a great kid and student. Third time I've seen him this year. Great positioning. Never takes a bad shot. Impressed by him. Wouldnthink he would win 1-2 titles in his career.
Joe smith? Supposedly still has had some injuries. Still don't see him finishing above say 4th. Ever.
65- rogers is a blast to watch from osu. My fav guy in this lineup. Super aggressive. Good shape. Not afraid to take chances. Throws . Wierd pinning move he hit. Legless cradle??
74- crutchmeyer wresltiwd smart. Avenged hisnloss feom last meeting.
84- these guys have had some close matches before, but not this time . Sammmy brooks alwrestled smart and hit two 6 point moves. Big win for Iowa , but not enough to make the difference
97 - weigel won , but his style is hard to like. No attacks from feet. Toug rider. Reminds me of an ex cowboy, (from Iowa, and l now a radiologist in Tulsa), Brandon mason. Wouldn't think weigel would ever finish above 6th, despite his #4 current ranking
Hwt- good win for osu hwt. He's tough... but small for the class. Upsozed 197 guy. Will have limited potential this year as best I can tell to be an AA.
Good dual.
Still say psu will win another team title at NCAA.
Also kinda cool to see a shot of Tom eriksen on the crowd. Big cat
Anyone else have some thoughts ?

Am almost done watching dvr on BTN of the Iowa psu dual. Good wrestling. Am up to 74.
Great great great match at 49 with zaine retehrford and iowas Sorensen. A rematch of lasT years NCAA final finals where retehrford major decisioned him.
One of the better and closer matches I've seen this year.
Please please please watch this match if u want to see two elite competitors wrestle with smarts and great heart.
