for people thinking this was a bad stoppage, i promise you , the information we have is incomplete.
Cuts above /around the eye have several things to consider on whether or not to stop a fight. In this case, blood blocking vision was not a factor. However, the depth of the cut, cannot be seen on the screen. If the muscles around the orbit are visible, that is very dangerous to continue, as damage to them, and you can loss some ability to blink, rotate your eye, etc. Nate's ability to move that eye laterally/or up and down, may already have been compromised, again, a very dangerous situation.
Having said that, if reports were true, if the doc asked some version of "are you OK to continue?" that is no bueno, as the default answer will be "yes" 99% of the time.
Stopping bouts due to injuries in/around the eye, are among the hardest calls for ringside docs.

I’m not an MMA Doc at all. I swear I saw damn near his whole eyebrow flop down once. I think it was a good, yet unfortunate stop. I doubt the doc was thinking this directly, but Nate loses nothing with that stop. He got paid. A stoppage banks him another money making match at some point. He was getting to the point of risking severe and possibly irreversible damage.
I also saw that Dana changed his tune post fight after he saw the cut in the back.
The most likely best case scenario for Diaz at that point was to win two rounds and lose a decision.

What kind of numbers do you guys think this PPV will do? I think it is going to do really well and get close to a million buys but not crack it. I’m saying around 850 000. I don't think we'll ever know what the PPV numbers were/are. I guess ESPN+ doesn't share PPV numbers. I just tried to find number from other UFC ESPN+ events. Can't find any of them, only approx.

I'm the biggest Nate nuthugger around, and I have no interest in a rematch. Mas was the better fighter, period.
Bring on Nate vs. Dwayne.

Agree on the rematch, and least for now. Nate is great, needs a cream puff. Might be time to cash in on McGregor trilogy if McGregor will agree to fight anyone first.

Nate's going to be out for a while so i wouldnt expect a rematch with George or Conor. Masvidal wants a big paycheck and the biggest paycheck will be against Conor.

Wait, you think Conor is willing to fight Jorge? Little Conor is gonna fight the BMF? Bwaaaaahahahahahaha. You’re hilarious kid. Conor’s a smart guy. He isn’t going to fight Jorge at 170 lbs.

I'm not a big Conor fan, but after Mayweather, the next fight he took was Khabib, who was arguably the toughest possible fight for him at 155. That showed some balls and showed that he's not all about just getting the biggest payday, he's interested in fighting the best fighters.
Based on that, i think Conor would fight Jorge at 170. Jorge isn't a big WW and style-wise, certainly a better matchup for Conor than Khabib was.
Conor wouldn't fight Usman at 170. Or Woodley. Or Colby. But a smallish-WW who won't try to take him down? He'd do that.

All indications point to a fight with a cowboy next, which is probably his safest legitimate fight to get back in the LW title contention.

I can agree with that. Cowboy would make a lot of sense for him. Huge name. People will watch. And a fairly safe matchup for him.
Or.... sign me up for a four-man tourney at 155 with Khabib, Tony, Dustin, and Conor. Gaethe and Cowboy as alternates. They're all bad MF's. Do it all in one night like the old days.

Fuck Conor, no way should he have a spot over Justin. He's 1-1 in the division. He can fight Cowboy for the right to be an alternative! Lol
Khabib vs Justin Tony vs Dustin
Conor vs Cowboy for alternative

I really want to see a motivated in shape and mentally stable Nick Diaz vs Jorge, I think if Nick could get his shit together he could put on a hell of a fight vs masvidal, but I wouldn't fucking count on him getting his shit together anytime soon, I've only watched half of the interview I posted and dude seems like as much of a train wreck as ever
