I like both guys, but I’m still not sold on Masvidal. Sure he beat Till, Askren, and Ray, but I think Diaz will be too much.
He’s a tough son of a bitch, but I like Diaz by decision in a 5 round fight.

Tough, tough fight to pick... I like em both too, but I don't think I could ever not root for Nate Diaz!

What am I missing? Conor stopped him? How, by tapping? Is this some kind of inside joke I'm unaware of?
Diaz has lost almost 1/3 of his fights by decision. Masvidal has won 1/3 of his fights by decision. Diaz is 4-9 when a fight goes to decision. Masvidal is 17-10. Seems like Masvidal winning by a decision isn't an unrealistic prediction. What makes you think otherwise?

Who is Masvidal’s biggest scalp?
I’d have to say Ray, seeing as he beat him twice.

Best wins in the last five years:
Masvidal: Askren, Till, Cerrone - all by KO
Diaz: Pettis, Conor, Michael Johnson - Decision, submission, decision
Diaz's best wins are all against natural light weights. Masvidal beat a huge 170lber in Darren Till and a legit 170 lber in Askren, although I don't know what the Askren fight really taught us about how good Masvidal is. At that level, anyone can get caught. And I'm not sure "ability to beat a big 170lber" is relevant in this fight, where I expect both guys to weigh about the same walking into the cage.
Common opponents in the last 8 years:
Cerrone - Masvidal wins by KO in the second, after almost KO'ing cowboy in the first. Diaz wins by Decision but my recollection is Diaz dominated the fuck out of Cerrone, although the scorecards don't reflect that.
Benson Henderson - they both lost to Ben by decision, Masvidal's was a split decision.
I'm still up in the air on who to bet on.

But I think he's at -165 or so right now and I don't like the 5-round aspect so I'm still torn. Weird fact - at one point Masvidal had a run in the UFC where he was was 7-4 and all four of those losses were by split decision. That has to be a record in the UFC, no? No way someone else has four consecutive losses all by split decision. I'm sure you're making a joke I'm not following, so explain... who is Ray?

I watched something on YouTube where fighters pick the winners of fights and Masvidal was the overwhelming choice. I would say 4 out of 5 fighters picked Jorge to win. Dan Hardy had an interesting take that he thinks Jorge is going to sit and wait for the first two rounds for Diaz to show him his tendencies and then get the KO similar to Till and Askren. Most of the other fighters suggested Jorge starting strong and possibly fading later. If there is a split decision, I wonder if there will be an immediate rematch? And you don’t know who Ray is? Fucking newb.

Fucking newb. I generally like Dan Hardy's commentary/insights just fine, but why in the world would someone sit and wait for two rounds against Nate? Those are two rounds you need to win considering how good Nate is in the later rounds, and how likely it is that this fight ends in a decision. Making that choice in reliance on your belief you can then knock Diaz out in later rounds??? Seriously? Diaz, who's been knocked out once in 30+ fights and that being by a head kick? You're going to try to replicate that? I hope Masvidal has a better strategy than that.

This fight is getting harder and harder to pick! I might even buy it... I honestly keep fucking band wagon jumping like crazy. I think I want jorge then I watch dinner Diaz bros highlights and im like "fuck that team nate all the way" Just imagine this fight if there was no mutual respect between these two. That shit would be next level shit if they hated each other. The cage brawl after the fight that would surely happen would be epic. So what I'm hoping happens is that Jorge wins says something Nate takes the wrong way, then nick jumps in the cage he and jorge have beef then we get a second Diaz (Nick) vs gamebread. Oh yeah epp 5 dropped of that Jorge series last night.

I believe Dan feels that Jorge is really good at recognizing patterns through watching video and making adjustments mid fight when he gets the timing down. He referenced the Askren and Till finishes. I don’t think he means for Jorge to turn it on in the later rounds, but that he will be more dangerous to get the finish after he feels Nate out for a round or two. I don’t think that strategy will work either. War Diaz!

By "mid fight" Hardy means "two seconds in"? Because that Askren fight lasted four seconds.
I'm totally torn on this fight. Can't wait.

Don’t forget the hours and hours Jorge spends watching video to mastermind his counterstrikes! So what happens to the BMF belt after this fight? I’m actually not keen on their being an actual belt. Does the winner defend it? Is it a one off belt? Does it get passed along to the next fight where both fighter are considered bad motherfucker?
