Had a stress test today....yeah, not good news....being dead serious here..the heart valves are not opening and closing correctly...like not even close. I lasted just over 5 minutes on the treadmill walking at a brisk pace on a slight incline and I was exhausted and my legs were shot. However my pulse was only 127 and my BP was only 130/87...so like WTF....anyway the dr wants to meet with me early next week...so lots of unanswered questions...peace.

Only 127???ππ³π¬ I'm assuming that was sarcasm, cause that's crazy high pulse. I dont know shit about blood pressure but I know my resting heart rate is around 48 (checked it just now on my phone its 52). But yeah dude hopefully nothing too serious might just be your body readjusting to sobriety. You beat the diabetes, losing the arm, and the substances (several times)so you got this shit too, best of luck bro.

They wanted it to get between 145-165 and I couldn't get up there because I was simply exhausted, I was spent after 5 minutes. My resting pulse is around 70-75. It's a bit high but I'm on a med that lowers it to that point.

But in all honesty I don't shit about that shit I only know my own heart rate and I would probably go into cardiac arrest at that high of a bpm.

IMO that's not that bad, the formula I use and is quite popular is 220 - your age = maximum heart rate. That's the formula i use when I work out doing HIIT to get my heart rate the highest I can before I bring it back down.

Yeah that's what they try to do during a stress test, get the heartrate up to a max/fat burning rate then the do a mini echo cardio gram to see what's up.

For people who work out consistently and don't smoke generally have way lower resting bpm. Last time I was training mma 5 to 6 days a week my resting rate was usually low 40s. When the heart is stronger it doesn't require as many beats to move blood. I've only really ever monitored my resting rate, and haven't done much with tracking it during or after exercise. You and tha bear kind of got me wondering now. Gonna have to start looking at heart rate monitors. Started lap swimming again last week and would love to monitor speed/ distance/ splits etc. Probably gonna get a samsung watch that will pair with my phone, I think alot of those have heart rate monitors.

The normal resting heart rate for adults over the age of 10 years, including older adults, is between 60 and 100 beats per minute (bpm). Highly trained athletes may have a resting heart rate below 60 bpm, sometimes reaching 40 bpm. The resting heart rate can vary within this normal range.Nov 15, 2017
It is recommended that you exercise within 55 to 85 percent of your maximum heart rate for at least 20 to 30 minutes to get the best results from aerobic exercise. The MHR (roughly calculated as 220 minus your age) is the upper limit of what your cardiovascular system can handle during physical activity.

Source -Master Google I fucked up my knee last November and took 6 months off of running. Got back into it and lifting again in may. The knee is still a little tender but I've came a long way toward getting back in shape. Tonight's splits on a 6.35 mile run And my heart rate immediately following I mean I see what your saying. But I'm 39 years old I weigh between 202 and 215 and have a bum knee. Maybe if I was just doing sprints I could get it that high I probably could have pushed a little harder I had a long ass day and didn't get my run in until almost 330 am plus I skinned my knees breaking up a dog fight today, and had to work after the Ducks game so I was fucking tired. Miles 3,4 and 6 were fucking slow. But still for me the idea of getting all the way to 164 I'd have to run 4 to 5 minute miles and my knees wouldn't have that shitπ€ͺππ³ Here's the one I took Thursday night

Had my meeting with the cardiologist yesterday and the news ain't so hot. I have one artery almost completely clogged and the other thing is that the bottom of my heart is damaged from my heart attack in July and the artery going to my heart on the bottom isn't working properly at all. So I now have to carry nitroglycerin with me at all times because of the risk of a second heart attack. So I leave rehab Saturday morning and I'm going home. I'm leaving 5 days early because I want my cardiac care to be done in Erie or Cleveland, preferably Cleveland because Cleveland Clinic is the number one heart hospital in the country.
I'm taking this dead serious , I ain't playing with this. I didn't get clean to up and die. I plan on sticking around for another 30 years, even if it's just too piss people off...lol ππ€£π―π―

Time to go Cyborg, Bear. Just get a robot heart, a robot liver, and you should be good to go for awhile.
In all seriousness, Cleveland Clinic is the way to go. My boss was told 5 years ago that he needed to have heart surgery "immediately." He sought out a second opinion, and that guy said the same thing. So he finally went to Cleveland Clinic, and the docs there told him having open heart surgery at that point was completely unnecessary. 5 years later and he's doing well, his heart has improved, and they are figuring he's probably still a good ten years out from needing the surgery that the other shitty doctors said he needed immediately. Also, as they pointed out, that technology progresses a ton in 15 years, and that the procedure will be easier, safer, and more effective when the day finally comes.

I leave rehab tomorrow morning at 10am and I have an appointment with my cardiologist in Erie next Friday and I'm going to seriously push for Cleveland. It's only 80 miles away from me. I'll definitely keep you all updated. Peace.

I'm just working and trying to be a good dad nowadays. I'm married with two boys, 7 and 1yrs old. I'm a program manager for a large tech company, work from home about half the time, money is tight and the career is boring but I'm luckier than most and grateful for the flexibility I have to spend time with my family. I'm a different person than I was in my 20s, but I still love my Steelers and still follow MMA.

Location-wise: Columbia, SC (7 years)
Career-wise: Stability Program manager in a pharmaceutical company, looking to move into Regulatory Affairs or Project Management.
Family-wise: No kids. Married 9 years ago. Two dogs.
BJJ-wise: I stopped at Purple. Full LCL rupture, and Achilles grade 2 stopped me.
Started brewing 6 years ago, pretty awesome yet expensive hobby.

I'm not sure I like that everyday is day 1. Would trick me into thinking it's no big deal if I slip up because I don't have any equity banked. I know when I've gone off the booze, the more days I stay off of it, the more I'm motivated to up that number.
I had to stay off the pot for like 4 months straight due to job hunting. I had mixed feelings when I hit a bowl a couple of weeks ago. Not because I wouldn't like it, but that 120 days or so was down the toilet. Luckily I'm not much of a smoker anymore. Ironically enough though, my wife is a training marijuana chef.

I definitely understand where you're coming from and I do love my sober time, but what my sponsor and others mean by that is all any of us has is today, the time right now and I/we need to work just as hard today as we did on day one. Yesterday is history and tomorrow is a mystery, all I've really got is today.

So did a couple of kooks, goofy fuckers and junkies just kill this place or what?
Shit has been cool on my end. I stay busy, keep moving forward and every now and then I stop and admire the view for a moment.
Got back into bjj full time. Took some pushing at my age to be able to make that happen. Been running my 2 mile at 14:30. Really happy about that time.
Got engaged in europe over the summer. Will be getting married in central america this coming year.
About to pick up my brokers license. Been talking about that one for too long. Finally was qualified. Test date first week of January.
Life has been cool so no complaints. I mean...shit hits the fan now and then...but all is well.
Hope all you bitches have been doing well!
