Oh yeah and a question for Kyle. Can you identify this snake? I know 100% what it is just curious if you know. Ran across him on the trail yesterday, buy I've seen them many times before.

We always called them bull snakes, but a quick google search says bull snake and gopher snake are the same thing. These things are non venomous but they will impersonate a rattle snake. Very first time I saw one these fuckers, he coiled up, flattened his head and was rattling his tail, freaked me the fuck out. I thought it was a timber rattler who's rattle had fallen off. So I smashed him with a rock, then I found out that it was all an act. Leave bobo out of this.

I was deer hunting with my buddy one day and was walking over to him to meet up and keep our hike going. He had found a gopher snake coiled up and as I walked close to him he flipped it up at me with his shooting sticks. It hit me directly in the face and scared the hell out of me and him, because he never would have thought it would go like that. Never forget how scared I was seeing what I thought was a rattle snake coming at my face.

Good thread turn here towards the end Boys. What kind/how big of rattlesnakes do you guys get out there? I run across timber rattlers once or twice a year, but that gopher snake would be twice the size of any I've ever seen.

Biggest one I have gotten was 51”. I’ve seen pictures of some from the south that look like pythons. Luckily the hogs, turkeys and eagles keep them in check here

Cause that sounds a little unsafe too. Good thread turn here towards the end Boys. What kind/how big of rattlesnakes do you guys get out there? They are more prevalent in the southern part of the state. And for awhile I thought bull snakes were timber rattlers. I'm sure Floater sees them alot down where he's at.

Yeah I've had to kill a few in the vineyard. The ones in Eastern Oregon and Nevada are more aggressive than the ones from my area.

Yeah I've had to kill a few in the vineyard. The ones in Eastern Oregon and Nevada are more aggressive than the ones from my area. The ones I see in northern MO are pretty froggy. There are a few ponds on the property and they can be anywhere in the tall grass between the treeline and waters edge at dusk, right about the times a guy might be walking through to come back from the woods or down to the water to top water fish in the summer. I always hear them rattling before and (if) I see them. It is weird how much they make a similar noise to any of insects that get noisy, but it's also instinctively recognizable. It'll make you pucker up quick.
