Main event status.
This will be one crazy fight.
Dana has announced that the winner will receive the "baddest motherfucker" championship belt.

Is that the main event? I'm interested in seeing how well it will sell.
I am one of the few who doesn't think Nate is a big draw. I think he's fun to watch, but don't think he'll sell alot.
But maybe its not fair to judge the sales anymore. I would think all sales are down since they went to ESPN+

Nate has becme a draw, even Dana has had a change of mind and called him a needle movr... Conor probably kicking himself, he could have fought either of these two. Instead he hurt his hand punching some old guy at a bar! Yet BJ gets trounced from the UFC for the same shit! Except BJ fought a guy who could fight back! On a different note, I would also love to see Diaz vs Tony!

Well, we all know Dana is full of shit and will say anything to sell a fight. 3 days ago he was saying he didn't know if this fight would even happen. Saying he has no idea if Nate wants to fight or not. Nate has had one fight in 3 years. And now all of a sudden he's a draw.. ? Doesn't really add up. Nate vs Conor would sell, Hell, Conor vs anyone is going to sell. Now Nate is fighting someone I don't think alot of the casuals know. So Nate would be the one they/we would be paying to see. Maybe you guys are right and Nate will be a big draw.

McGregor is by far the biggest draw in UFC history. That being said, outside of his fight with Khabib which just blew the fucking doors off (2.4 million buys), his two biggest draws were both non-title bouts against Diaz-#2 and #3 all-time in ppv buys. So Diaz certainly moves the needle, at least with the right opponent.
Looking over the ppv buyrate history, McGregor is #1 by a LONG shot. Brock is #2 by a pretty long shot as well. It gets closer after that, but probably Rousey #3. By the way, this isn't "total ppv buys", but more just the eyeball test of who main evented the biggest ppvs in history. I'm sure GSP and Silva are up there for total ppv buys by sheer volume of fights.

Well this card was supposed to be headlined by Usman and Colby but negotiations fell through... So yeah, this is a way better main event and will probably do better numbers than Usman/Colby or Usman vs Leon Edwards.

Big draws like Conor, Brock and Rhonda didn't need the right opponent. They were the sellers. I just don't think Nate is a seller on his own. What would be considered good? Here is the last years of PPV buys. Can Nate outsell Dillashaw and Holloway ? 8/4/2018 UFC 227 Dillashaw v. Garbrandt 300,000 9/8/2018 UFC 228 Woodley v. Till 130,000 10/6/2018 UFC 229 Khabib v. Conor 1,900,000 11/3/2018 UFC 230 Cormier v. Lewis 250,000 12/8/2018 UFC 231 Holloway v. Ortega 300,000 12/29/2018 UFC 232 Jones v. Gustafsson 2 700,000 1/26/2019 UFC 233 Cancelled 2/9/2019 UFC 234 Adesanya v. Silva 3/2/2019 UFC 235 Jones v. Smith 650,000

Masvidal is as hot as he's ever been and he just set the record for quickest knockout. I have no doubt that this fight can be marketed and sold properly.
My point was, as much as people liked Aldo, Alvarez, etc., McGregor did more buys both times he fought Nate in non-title bouts than he did fighting division champions. That, at least in part, is due to Nate's popularity.

I'm just going off the small bubble of people I know that watch MMA.
