I'm 46.
5'11.5 and right now at a pretty solid 190.
Looking to shed some weight and see if I can be comfortable and fit at 175 range.
Want to break 40 minutes in a 10K since I easily could in my 20s. Ran a 46 minute in 2016 without even training much so I can probably do it.
Going to rotate between running, walking and rowing as my main sources of cardio. Will go heavy running focus as I train for a mid May 10K.. May try ocean swimming as I have some buddies that do it regularly, but will try it and see if I can hang. Push ups, pull ups, squats and core work.
Doing a few mini triathlons this year and incorporating travel in to change things up. Also doing Baker to Vegas which is a fun cop event and run that ends up being a pretty big after party in Vegas.

Signed up last November but was only able to train for 4 days as I unfortunately developed a boil on my right armpit. I've trained in different mats since 2008 but this one got me. I'm really questioning their hygiene policies. I suck big time. I remember taking long breaks but I was still keeping my self in shape so there would be no transition period if I return to training. This was by far my longest hiatus and I gained around 40-45 lbs. Target would be 160 and probably return to 145 for competition. I used to walk around at 155 and compete at 138. Will return next week and probably get a road bike to do some long riding in between.

Man, I feel fat. I got up to almost 225 lbs. Went on keto and dropped to 200. Then stopped and am now back to around 210. That's not a bad weight for me. My plan is to do full body, functional workouts for the next 4 to 6 weeks to work out my imbalances and then start hitting real weight. I cant run because of knee problems. My cardio will be BJJ. I fully expect to get my purple before years end.

I have noticed if and when I can get 8 hours of sleep multiple days in a row I seem to lose weight or have an easier time maintaining. If I am getting 6 hours I don't. But I probably get closer to 6 hours 85% of the time just because of work schedule and kids schedule. I get up at 5:30 - 6AM and my body clock won't let me sleep later than that. Wife and I are committed to trying to get to bed by 9:00PM and turn off the TV by 9:30-10PM, but will see how it goes. Might make a huge difference.

Went from 309 to 219 2016-17. My 'crisis-weight' is 240. I'm about 20 past crisis so short-term goal is 239.9. I'd prefer my cruising weight is 225 so that is a May 4th goal I guess.
Sleep equals great for this.
I did the first 50 lbs with basic caloric intake control. Then started running quite a bit (shit there was even a jog around thread). My excuse list includes that I ate a helluva a lot more when I exercised a lot. Running injury caused a 3 month layoff, but I stayed on the exercising diet. Then followed that up with 9 months of combo-lazy, half-ass intake control. Was bouncing around 240 most of that time, but Oct-Dec packed on 20.
Went down hard on the ice during a jog trying to fend off bad eating over the holidays. Siblings and cousins coming up today-Sun for a lot of boozing and eating.
Long way of saying. I'm fat. As of Monday, I have to count calories and uptick the action. I don't even get in that great of shape. Need to get back to bumping out a 10K on the weekends, 5Ks during the week and eating right. About 220 lbs. Then I'll probably need to adjust to add some strengf and other goals to keep the edge.

All I have to do is not take back my girlfriend -again- and I'll be much healthier. I've pretty much been a healthy- habit guy, but she insists on keeping fatass foods and snacks in the house. I begged her, over and over again, to please please please please please not have junk food in the house. Ridiculously, she always complained about "feeling gross" and always made oaths to lose weight herself (she's sexy, but a little overweight. You would all enjoy fucking her big bubbly butt and big titties, but also you would agree she needs to lose a couple. Think Christina Aguilera during certain eras) but there was never any follow through.
Her and me "So we're agreed. Strict diet for at least six months."
Half hour later, in supermarket, she puts gelato, mixed nuts, and bacon in the cart. Me: "Hey, we're on a diet, remember?"
Her: "You're so abusive. Why do you want me to feel so badly?"

If mixed nuts and bacon weren't allowed in my diet, I wouldn't ever diet. My wife is the same way though except it is Little Debbie snacks, cupcakes, and candy. Then she gets upset and asks how I could enjoy life if u cant enjoy food.

So ANYWAY, fitness goals 2019 I'm 226, would like to be 200. Problem is that I start looking good enough at around 217 (titties and rolls disappear) and girls actually prefer me at 226 than at 200, where everyone insists I look like I'm 160. Still I would like to be 200 because I believe I will have more energy and be more effective at work, which is all climbing/ body weight exercise. I feel like if I were 20 lbs lighter I would have more energy at the end of the day to pursue hobbies and women (who, at that weight, find me a little less attractive than at my present weight).
The highest I've ever been was an even 240, which was about 1 year ago, and yes I blame my girlfriend. She was given to behavior such as ambushing me with dessert when I'm stoned, had a beer, and am starting to fall asleep on the sofa. It's weird, because I asked her, and begged her, literally hundreds of times, to never do that again. So I was 240 and dumped her n June. By September I was 217lbs, took her back in october, and began the sure and steady climb of weight since.
... And the bitch whines that I "blame" her for my weight gain. "Please stop ambushing me with dessert at the exact minute of the day when my will power is weakest." "So now it's MY fault you're gaining weight."
"YES BITCH GOD DAMN"
Of course I could say no to those 10PM Gelatos, cake pops, and cookies. But that ALWAYS started a fight. If I wanted to get some rest I could eat the dessert, of course enjoy the shit out of it, and sleep. If I said "no thanks," then she would get butt hurt and start arguing, which meant no sleep.
She's such a dumb bitch, and yet I love her pieces. Always glad to be rid of her, but then I take her back every time. In my defense, I always take her back conditionally, but then she instantly breaks every agreement and later denies ever accepting the conditions. She's like the Soviet Union

I'm returning to competition this year. At the end of Feb I will do my first Olympic weightlifting meet in almost 2 years, and just a week later, March 2nd, my first powerlifting meet in 13 months. I've got my diet dialed-in like a fucking cyborg. I've cheated on my diet exactly twice in 14 months. I'm 8% body fat at 220 lbs. I'm ready to see what I can do at this size.

She's like the Soviet Union You got you a chubby chaser. And just so im in on this thread my goals are to keep my current weight right now 205. I was 299 at my heaviest in 2013 started eating right and exercising in late March 2013 and was down to 205 in September 2013. In 5 and a half years I worked out 6 days a week, running 3 some times 4 days and lifting 3 a week On the last week of November 2018 I reinjured an acj tear from 2003 in my right shoulder, I continued to work out and tore something in my right knee, didn't ever go get it looked at because no insurance and not having a good job so after never missing a work out for over 5 years I have now not worked out other then walking since the last Monday of November. I walk about 3 to ten miles a day but it's nowhere near what I'm used to intensity wise, I hate being fucking hobbled like some limp dick faggot like floyd or Kyle. But I will use this down time to really dial in my nutrition and completely recover and come back stronger and more focused. And so far the weight is staying where I need to be it is fucking hard though when I was working out I would have insane cheat days and it was ok because I could drop the weight again real fast. still do just not as often.

I'm currently sat at around a fluffy 226 lbs, coach has had be on 8k calories a day post show, just had a read through some old threads on here to review what my old coach had me on and it was pretty appalling how much he was starving me, its a wonder I had any muscle left.
Goals for this year are same as last year, pack on some size and shred up for next comp, just finished a 14 week gaining phase, gone from 81kg (depleted stage weight) to 104kg... 6 week mini cut started today, dial it back to 95kg dropping as much fat as possible before blasting another bulk for 10 weeks before 14 week show prep!
If anyone need any nutrition advise give me a shout getting peeled/shredded is my thing!

One day at a time, as previously mentioned somewhere, my super-foul-ous activities extended into January. Got a half ass start last week. Upped it to 5/8ths ass this pass weekend through today. This is basically caloric intake responsibility + slow build cardio (see elliptical machine).
As lame as it sounds, I can get the blood boiling a little bit even on the elliptical, like where you kind of what to flip the thing over and spit on it when you are done. So it's good to feel like that already. Trying to keep it slow and steady build though, I have hit the pavement and other activities too hard too early in the past and had a setback.
I know I'm not losing 10 lbs of fat in the first two weeks but it does always make me wonder how much shit (literal) and other excess intestinal garbage I carry around. Just restricting intake really cleans out the system.

Have not been around in a bit. Bike stuff is always fun. What are u looking to do ? Some urban riding with some hill trails mixed in. Although I'm planning a 30 miler on the road. I'm looking at at Marlin 6 by Trek. The shop is selling SRAM 1x setup and would assemble a bike for you. So I'm thinking of a cheap gravel bike with an NX eagle groupset. But I'm reading these comments that 1x setup is just a fad and it puts tremendous strain on the chain and shit. Should I stick with factory built Trek? A 1x set up gravel bike? Or assemble a gravel bike with traditional Fd + RD combo (I'd probably end up with a Claris with my budget).

If u are planning any sort of on road events, I would suggest choosing the gravel bike out of those you have listed. And I would suggest a standard set up with front derailler and rear derailler. I personally like a compact crankset.
I don’t have a gravel bike and have only done a few events. I use my cyclocross bike. It has a 50/36. I run 32 tires and have had no problems at the easier gravel events.
If you are going to do the bulk of your riding on true challenging single track, then the trek mtb would be the way to go. It would also be fun for u to huck around on urban assault stuff.
I have an older stumpjumper mtb. Around 2012. It’s traditional gearing. I see the newer single front options at the shops. My buddies who do mainly mtb have had no issues with the new single front gearing as far as chain stress.
I personally would try to opt for shimano as much as u can over sram for your groupset. I have had some problems with brakes dragging a lot with my sram stuff. But again... my group is older; those kinks may have been corrected with the newer nicer models.

I was always leaning towards the gravel bike route and I know I'd probably spent 80% of the time on urban/road riding. My buddy has been sending me photos of their mtb group and the places they've been to. I guess having a mtb as an option was a result of peer pressure(lol). Your post helped me tons. Shimano has always been an old reliable brand. I could probably push it to a Sora groupset and maybe 700c 42mm tires. We'll see. The missus doesn't know about this. Yet. Thanks for the advice.

His bench and dead-lift are insane, he's around 21lbs and i've witnessed him lift 225kg bench, narrow grip for a double and 235kg for a single. Dead-lift 330kg... The kid has some insane genetics and is crazy aesthetic for a power lifter!

I've been lifting consistently for the past couple of years. Back problems I've overcome for now. Had some issues with my wrist, but got some shots and worked through it. Usually I'm right around 190 lbs but after football season, going on vacation and the holidays...found myself at 210. Quick keto conversion and putting down the booze helped get me back to right under 200.
I've found that now that I'm older, I have to have a completely different exercise routine. I used to not go heavy on the legs, due to hobbies like snowboarding and jitz, was worried I'd be putting too much on em. Not the case any longer, I look forward to heavy leg days. On the other hand...dead lifts are out of the equation for me. Just do not have the confidence that the lower back will hold up. I have a routine that works for me and as long as I keep my headphones on, I just power through it. Been going 5 days a week for awhile now.
My goals this year is to get a bit leaner, but try to maintain muscle mass. I can get strong and I will get bigger in size, but having just lean muscle mass has always been hard to maintain. Going to try and make that happen this year.

I did the meet. OK state championship.
Won my class and my division. Squatted 550, bench 401, dead lift 606, body weight 217. Two of those will now be state records. Will compete again in July.
Went way too conservative on squat as I had a brief stomach bug the week before that shook my confidence a bit, but in hind sight I should have trusted my training more and stayed aggressive. A 585 squat was there for the taking.
Will attempt 595, 430, and 635 in July, which would all be state records in the open division for a 100kg male, and for a 40 year old to own those records is unheard of.

Been hitting the gym and sticking to somewhat of a diet. Still not where I want to be but have shed a good portion of the unwanted weight I put on. Started doing sprints, which is something I have left out of my workout since my days of competing in Jitz. While at first I didn't miss those shits at all, after a couple months of them in there regularly, starting to like em again.
