Toehold, what's your weight? You and Storm should have an amateur fight. Kill two birds with one stone. Toehold would be the only fighter in the history of MMA to fall for the "your shoes are untied" trick.

Well becoming a pro fighter is my ultimate goal. I do believe that being a pro is something that needs to be earned, whereas amateur fighting is the first step and is simply signing up and gaining experience. My road is hopefully going to lead me to be a deserving pro, but amateur fights will definitely be a part of the journey. I hope you do make it. I kind of disagree on the idea that being an Amateur is just "signing up" and not something that is "earned" though. That makes it sound like anyone can do it, when you are still taking most of, if not all the same risks, and actually for zero pay which makes it even riskier, and still with a big crowd watching and lots of pressure. My instructor said he once trained a dude for an Amateur fight and after winning the guy said "yeah, so what, it was just Amateur?" and my coach handed him a penny and winked and said "there, now it was pro" LOL. But yeah, we all know Pros are where it's at, I just think Amateurs in MMA deserve more respect and should get as much respect as The Golden Gloves' guys do cause everyone knows they are bad asses but lots of people think Amateur MMA guys are just bums. Good luck though and keep us updated.

It definitely takes guts to step in any ring, shit I know many people who quit training after experiencing their first real sparring session. I guess what I’m saying is I know 100% that I will fight at the amateur level whether it’s once, or multiple times, but getting to the pro level, and actually deserving to be there, is more of an unknown. I have all the belief in myself, but I’m also realistic, and know that things happen. To me, fighting as an amateur is pretty much guaranteed, its just a matter of when I decide to compete for the first time.

To me, fighting as an amateur is pretty much guaranteed, its just a matter of when I decide to compete for the first time. Absolutely I feel you and of course fighting at Pro is the ultimate goal for anyone, and at the highest level possible. I guess for me, at 38, and with my instructor's strict rules that I'd need to have an Amateur boxing fight first, then (in his words), 1 & 1/2 to 2 years training before he'd even let me step in the ring for a single Amateur fight, and probably having to win a few to go Pro, I myself know I'll never go Pro and will be super lucky to have an Amateur bout ever. Then again, not all coaches have as strict rules as my coach, and you are nearly 10 years younger and I've had 3 knee reconstructions and have chronic neck issues, so you have plenty of time to make your goal a reality. I still wish there were Masters' divisions in both Amateur and Pro MMA for people like me. I mean I think the sport has been around long enough that it should happen and maybe it will eventually, but if you bring it up on a forum like this USUALLY you just hear people saying shit like "yeah, I don't want to see two geriatrics huffing and puffing for 3 rounds", but that's cause people like that don't usually train hard and are only thinking of it as viewers. I'm not saying the UFC or Bellator should add a Master's division, but with all these weight classes for men and women it seems about time that at least a few low level orgs include like a 40-49 year old age division. What's your level in BJJ and did you ever wrestle in school?

LOL, Jonas doesn't train and I'd crush him with my fat. You know what it's like to have my gut on your face? I'll make you tap from my girth alone LOL. Naw, for real, my weight class would be 170lbs and I'm around 185lbs. It's more of a beer gut then fat. If I didn't drink it would be no issue. Then again, if you look at most pros they often weigh 15lbs over their class and sweat all the weight out last minute, which isn't smart IMO.

Nice to be critical, but: 1) I'm chasing some career goals that are keeping me busy so I can't train as much as I want 2) I actually don't want a black belt at the moment 3) My coach is SUPER strict about giving out black belts to anyone, and has only given ONE person at our school one, and like 2 other guys who train at other schools. I've tapped black belts and been tapped by blue belts, none of it really matters, it's the skills you have and the belt is just a marker. I mean go tell an experienced boxer or wrestler that they aren't "black belts" LOL...see if they care. I honestly could give a crap if it takes me 20 years to get a black belt, I only care about the training.

If anyone has a competition coming up the whip comes out, but I haven't competed for 5 years since I tore my right wrist, then found out shortly afterwards that I have cervical disk disease in my neck (stupid dramatic name, not a disease, just means a jacked up neck from being stacked so much in BJJ). I'll compete again for sure and then he'll get out the whip.

Ask yourself, WWJD (What Would Jim(Miller) Do?) LOL. Well, the difference between you and Jonas is with guys like you and John FC it's all in good fun and you aren't little tool bags. My instructor often "brags" about getting tapped by his own white belts. Since Marcelo Garcia said years back he knows he's had a good training session once he's "so tired the white belts are tapping him" it's actually become almost *gasp* "fashionable" for black belts to get tapped by whites or blues. Of course usually they either aren't going hard, or super tired, but I like the trend the sport is taking of no longer making training sessions into fights/tournaments. It's TOTALLY different for a lower belt to tap you in training or light you up in striking sparring and it happening in a tournament/fight and the confusion between the 2 is what produces a lot of douchebags in the gym who hurt others and get kicked out and my gym doesn't stand for that. Since I got a purple belt about 16 years ago the only people who have ever tapped me in tournaments were purple's, browns and blacks, and it's pretty rare that a slick blue belt will dive into a leg lock fast and I might tap rather than risk a 4th knee reconstruction, but typically it's only purple's and up that give me trouble. And yeah, no one deserves a black belt in my or my instructor's opinion unless they are training multiple times a week in BOTH gi and no gi. A couple months back I was doing 3 BJJ classes and 3 boxing classes a week, which I'll get back to, but right now that isn't even possible due to schedule conflicts with other shit.

Toehold would finish jonas inside of 45 seconds. Probably choke him out but may KO him. Zero chance it gets out of the 1st round.

I'd make a point of finishing it with strikes.
Take down, guard pass, side mount to mount, his only choice would be whether he faces the punches from mount or turns away on to his belly to try to block them with the back of his head.
$20 says he belly's down and begs me to choke him and I have to aim for his ears not to get disqualified, but I'd have to admit, he might stand a chance at winning by DQ if he's practiced his "back of the head block".
Gotta watch out for that.

Jonas, unless you want to waste your time, which I guess you do, you probably want to stop posting to someone who doesn't read your shit now.
I mean I basically decided a few months back I only want to converse with the 100% cool people on here (fucking with me in a good natured way like Human Agent and John FC is fine), so if you think I'm gonna check your posts out of curiosity, I'd basically have to be curious about everyone I have on ignore, cause I have no idea it's even you.
Some of the people I've got on ignore know who they are, and 1 or 2 might not, but I'm up to like 6 now, so at this point when I see "this post is hidden", unless there's context for me to guess it's you (which in this case there is), I really don't usually know who it is, and I don't click on it.
Happy trollin'

Still not looking. But if you want a look at what I can do on the BJJ mat and think you'd have the skills to take me, check this old highlight video of my school several years back. youtu.be/jvzKRsfckDMI'll point out where I'm at: Around 0:14--0:15 I get a single leg takedown, around 0:49 I get an upside down knee bar (if you want to see my instructor he pulls one off right before that and is on the video at several points), at 1:01 I get an upside down toehold, at 1:38 I get a inside heel hook (I actually hurt that guy), at 1:50 I get a rear naked choke, at 2:24 I get a triangle, at 2:29 I get a belly down ankle lock, at 3:30 I get a slow motion arm bar from bottom guard (I think that's the best shot), at 5:20 I get an armbar from guard, at 6:38 there's also a still shot of the earlier arm bar from guard, and all of these were Advanced Divisions and most of these guys purple belts, though I think some were brown and maybe a few blues. I've caught nearly every major type of submission in tournaments over the years, and have competed in at least 34 tournaments, from no-gi divisions to gi divisions to open weight divisions and several weight classes and experience levels in over 100 matches combined, and have about 50 other matches on tape I don't have online. Keep in mind this was years ago when I was a purple belt and not nearly as good as I am now and also hadn't boxed much whereas now I've taken boxing lessons for years. Actually, three weeks ago a purple belt came into our school who my instructor had tapped at the New Breed tournament, but he'd caught one of my friends who is a good purple and a tough training partner. I rolled with him and easily caught him in both a side choke and kimura. I might not be as fast as I was years back, but I still got it. Pretty much, anyone who doesn't have online footage of them tapping or knocking out a resisting partner in a competition can't talk shit about beating them in a fight when the other guy has the video footage. You may as well walk into a job interview without a resume LOL: you deserve to get laughed out of the room.

I think that's what Al Bundy would sound like if he had access to You Tube. Pretty much LOL. Except Ed O'Neil is actually pretty good at BJJ and was one of the earlier Royce (or maybe Rorion, not sure) Black Belts. You did say the character and not the actor though.

Little update for this following. Shoulder isn’t 100% but I’m able to train and spar, just no power left hooks so far. It will likely take me a while to feel comfortable again with those, but it’s okay because it’s Muay Thai and there are many weapons.
If you follow my Instagram page, please no mention of this on there, but I’ve committed to an amateur fight on June 30. I know I’m injured, but I have never felt so ready in my life. That being said, going to be a little rough as I’m flying to Singapore this week to watch the UFC fight night with my family. I will be working hard on shadow boxing, light technique, and recovery while I’m there. When I get back I’ll have 5 or 6 days to reacclimate if needed.
Something else cool I’m doing is a Thai pad holding course at PTT. One of my goals, being a personal trainer, has been to gain enough Muay Thai experience one day to train others in the art. This won’t make me ultra qualified, but it will definitey help me along my journey. Thanks for reading, will hop in as anything else exciting happens, and will be sure to post video of my fight, win, lose, or draw.

Something to think about: You're never 100% once you train regularly. Recovery helps but it will be a long road of adjustments and creating mental fences/limitations for what & what not to do especially for our age. I find PTT shady with them pad course. They made some news a while back with their 3 month blue belt program as well. Not saying they're not legit, looks like a money grab. If you're training regularly, do you still need thai pad course? Also, enjoy the UFC and Singapore's alcoholic beverage prices.
